Driving the uptake of digital skills in Belgium and Luxembourg is a key focus of Accenture’s Digital 20/20 program. This aligns with ‘Skills to Succeed’—the global focus of Accenture’s Corporate Citizenship program and corporate social responsibility efforts, which is helping to equip disadvantaged people around the world with skills that open doors to employment and economic opportunity.
One way we bring these two objectives together in Belgium is by partnering in the local initiative Discover Your Talent, a Brussels project that builds bridges between public, private and social actors to coach disadvantaged youngsters for the world of employment.
At the fifth Discover Your Talent edition in May 2015, Accenture volunteers joined employees from Elia, Freshfields, Nestlé and Securex and our social partners, Maks VZW and The Shift, to coach 82 youngsters during one day.
This was the third consecutive year Accenture employees participated in this event, and building on this experience plus numerous other employee volunteering actions, Accenture has developed, ENGAGE, a practical guide to partnerships involving employee volunteering together with our partners Beci and The Shift.
Olivier Gillerot, Accenture Managing Director and sponsor of this project, explains: “Our employees derive tremendous value from participating in volunteering projects. They develop a better understanding of their environment and they develop skills that are also important in their interactions with our clients. Ultimately, our employees and all participants benefit from these projects. By creating this practical guide, we aim to inspire other actors in the economy to think about new partnerships, because convergence between private, social and public actors create more impact in society.”
