The wellbeing of our people at work (and outside work) is a top priority for the Accenture Belgium & Luxembourg practice. Our commitment translates into a new Fit At Work program launched in October 2015 with EnergyLab, a leading professional fitness consultancy in Belgium working with some of the country’s top athletes. Fit At Work addresses the full spectrum of wellness and is supported by a dedicated online platform and the latest wearable technologies. Already more than 500 of our people are actively engaged.
Wellness from A-Z
Regardless of fitness level, age, gender or interests, Fit At Work aims to help all Accenture people in Belgium & Luxembourg become and stay healthy for the long-term. Monthly themes with free workshops delivered by external experts tackle hot topics ranging from how to get started with sport, over mindfulness and stress reduction, to healthy nutrition and quality sleep. These are complemented by active meeting rooms in our three offices, healthy in-office catering plus a wide variety of sports activities regularly organized by our Sports Committee, including public running and cycling events but also internal tournaments (football, tennis, squash…) and even early morning yoga sessions in the office.
Digitally enabled…
Being able to measure the benefits of adopting a healthy lifestyle is undoubtedly the best encouragement to continue any fitness program. This is where wearable technologies make a real difference and why Accenture makes them a key component of Fit At Work. We enable our people to link Garmin Vivofit Step Counters to our online platform and monitor their personal progress, record daily KMs walked/cycled/run and share the results with other colleagues if they choose. The online platform also functions as a continuously expanding repository of tips & tricks about living a healthy lifestyle including training plans, injury prevention, nutrition and healthy recipes.
… Human achievement
Role models are a great way to inspire more people to get involved. Our 12 Fit At Work Ambassadors, male and female colleagues of all ages from across the company, volunteered to be the ‘face’ of the program. After a screening and selection process with EnergyLab, they are being coached and supported to achieve a long-term personal Fit At Work goal, with as their first milestone, participation in the ING Night Marathon in Luxembourg in May or a sprint triathlon in June 2016 in Belgium. Think about what being fit (at work) means for you and dare to share this with some colleagues. Try to strikethrough some of the irrelevant excuses we all easily come up with not to act and just make it happen. Simple. Niels Lambrix (Fit@Work ambassador)
